The Wundowie Iron Festival is a community event held in Wundowie, Western Australia, celebrating the town’s unique industrial heritage, particularly its history as Australia’s first ironworks town.
The most recent Wundowie Iron Festival was held on Saturday, 3 May 2025, at the Wundowie Oval. It was themed around “Forging Our Future”, continuing the tradition of celebrating the town’s iron heritage while supporting local art, metalwork, and community groups.
Wundowie was founded around an iron and steel works built in the 1940s, which produced pig iron and charcoal. The Iron Festival pays tribute to this history, showcasing the “Iron Town” identity and the pioneering spirit of its workers and residents.
